A commingling of cultures – Sameer’s family is Pakistani and Joelei grew up in New Zealand, with Irish and Filipino heritage, so it was important to them to represent both of their backgrounds in the celebration. Their invitation suite included phrasing in English, Tagalog (Joelei’s family’s language) and Urdu (Sameer’s family’s language). To further customize the invitations and other decor used for the day, a custom logo was created, blending the New Zealand silver fern and the Pakistani jasmine flower. To end on a fun note, the couple and their guests danced the night away to an eclectic mix of music that included throwbacks to the 1990s and early 2000s, current top 40 hits, and Bollywood/Pakistani tunes.
